Geroy Simon and the Saskatchewan Roughriders welcome the BC Lions to Mosaic Stadium in Sunday CFL action
The BC Lions leave the den this week to take on the Saskatchewan Roughriders and both teams find themselves missing key components of their offense for a crucial Western Conference matchup. The Riders have lost two-straight but they are still 4-1 at home this season and the early line of -5 has been bought up to -5.5 at several online sports betting shops. The Greek sportsbook still offers -5 (-115) with a total of 52.5 and this week’s CFL prediction looks at a play on the side.
WEEK 13 CFL – LIONS AT ROUGHRIDERS (-5, O/U 52.5)
[dropcap2]T[/dropcap2]he Lions have struggled all year to win games on the road and taking on the Riders without the services of QB Travis Lulay certainly won’t help the situation. Sophomore QB Thomas DeMarco is expected to fill in for Lulay with recently acquired veteran QB Buck Pierce backing him up. DeMarco has seen limited action but has completed 15-of-24 passes for 148 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions in his brief CFL tenure. The rowdy Rider fans have been known to cause issues for even the most experienced CFL quarterbacks and that could lead to an increase in touches for RB Andrew Harris.

The Riders are without the services of leading rusher Kory Sheets which is a major blow to their offense. Recent addition Chris Garrett is one option to fill in for Sheets and was a very capable RB with the Blue Bombers a few years ago before suffering a season ending injury in training camp prior to the 2012 season. Garrett has yet to prove that he has fully recovered but could get the chance Sunday in Saskatchewan. The Riders have lost their hold on first place in the West as Calgary continues to climb the standings. Another concern for the Green and White has to be the recent turnovers being committed by QB Darian Durant. Durant’s first turnover of the season came in the Banjo Bowl against the Bombers and things only got worse the following week when he tossed three interceptions against the Argos. Durant has had ball control issues in the past and will need to protect the ball for the Riders to be successful.

WEEK 13 CFL BEST BET
We like the Riders to return to the win column this week as the Lions still haven’t figured out how to win on the road. Having a rookie QB playing in front of the notoriously loud “Rider Nation” slants this one heavily to the home side.
Pick: Take the Riders
