Trends with Benefits: Week 9 NFL Betting

Top trends and sports betting tips from Sunday’s late games between the Broncos and Patriots, Raiders – Seahawks and AFC North divisional battle from Pittsburgh

If you were late to the NFL party today and tuned into see Mark Sanchez throwing touchdown passes for the Eagles, we can understand your feeling of disappointment. Our play on the Eagles and Texans “Over” 48 looked in serious doubt when Nick Foles went down but credit to Sanchez; he’s definitely put some time into learning Chip Kelly’s offense. Between Sanchez, Michael Vick, Brandon Weeden and Robert Griffin III there a few new faces popping onto the fantasy football radar today and it’s causing a few surprises but hey, just another day in the NFL.

We covered the Denver Broncos at New England Patriots game in Week 9 NFL picks so you definitely want to check that out but here is one more thing you might want to consider: In the last 14 years, teams playing the first of three-straight road games are 21-5-1 ATS when the line is within +/- 3 points of ‘Pick em’

Pick Sixty Trend Tips: Take the Broncos

RAIDERS at SEAHAWKS

Line: Seattle -13 and O/U 43

The Raiders are off a SU/ATS road loss in Cleveland face a Hawks team who has gone through a touch of turmoil the past couple weeks. Between losing back-to-back games, getting hustled in St. Lou and then the Harvin, Wilson and Lynch rumors that have surfaced, this team must be looking forward to the comforts of home. Here is the updated record for Oakland in the second of back-to-back road games (Click SDQL Link for SportsDatabase.com).

The overall record is 12 overs and 2 unders and as you can see from the chart, Oakland is getting outscored in this angle 27-26 with nine of the 14 games sailing over by nine-plus points. Oakland has played only two games against mobile QBs the past couple years and they lost them both. Raider QBs at the time were Matt Leinart and Matt Flynn, so they didn’t have much chance of winning to begin with. Cam Newton and RG3 had little problem against the Raiders D and we don’t imagine Russell Wilson will struggle much either.

Seattle opponent with weaker offenses don’t often score much in the first quarter at Century Link so there may actually be some value in live betting this game over but I could see the Hawks putting 14 points on the board in the first 15 minutes and as long as there is 21 total points in the first-half, the pace is set. Seattle will score at least 27 points and the Raiders will hopefully find their way to 17.

Our Sunday Night and Monday Night football picks were posted earlier but if you missed it, here’s the scoop: Baltimore is on the road for a second-straight week while the Steelers wrap up a long home stand. Since 2005, divisional 2-and-2 games between 44 and 50 have been a “Over” play at a rate of 70-percent and when the home team has won back-to-back games and the line is this tight we’ve seen 13 of the past 14 games go over. This is another game that may start off slower than expected but once these two get going we are expecting the pace to pick up nicely.
