Top trends and sports betting tips from Sunday’s late games including the Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders
In last week’s bad weather games the fireworks didn’t start going off until the second-half but once they did, look out! So far in today’s eight early starts we are seeing an average of 23.4 points scored in the first-half and things are just heating up. It promises to be another wild weekend with dramatic finishes for NFL bettors and here is how we see things shaping up in a few of the late games.
KANSAS CITY AT OAKLAND
Best NFL Odds: Chiefs -6.5 and O/U 43.5
The Oakland Raiders got whupped last week in New York but that was the Raiders’ fourth road game in five weeks. It was also an early bodyclock start for the AFC West team and the Raiders had three divisional games on-deck starting with these Chiefs so it’s fair to say the group may have been a little unfocused. KC beat the Raiders 24-7 when they met at Arrowhead in Week 6 and the Chiefs recorded 10 QB sacks. Since then Oakland has only allowed 14 total sacks in seven games (2.0 per game) and the combination of QB Matt McGloin with an improved O-line shows promise. The Raiders have only scored 20 PPG their home games since that meeting, however, and they will likely need a little more than that to win this ball game straight-up.
[quote_text color=”#000000″ text_color=”#ffffff”]The Chiefs are 10-0 SU this season when holding their opponent to fewer than 20 points[/quote_text]
Kansas City is 4-17-1 ATS the past 10 years when facing a division foe with a lesser record and that includes a 3-8 ATS mark on the road where the Chiefs gave up 26.6 points per game (PPG) on the road. The Raiders are desperate to avoid another 4-12 season and so far this year, teams who have lost three-straight games are 35-14-1 O/U (71-percent). Look for a spirited effort from both teams as the Raiders cover and this game sails over the number.

NY JETS AT CAROLINA
Top Sportsbook Odds: Panthers -9.5 and O/U 41
It was a little surprising to see this line dip below double-digits with gameday betting but the Panthers are in a divisional sandwich with New Orleans on-deck and when coming off a loss, home teams in this spot are just 34-59-4 ATS (34-percent). Totals have hit 60-percent to the under and the total has held strong at 41 thanks in part to that ridiculous non-Conference betting trend of 2013. When the sandwich game is of the inter-Conference variety we have one angle that sets up an 80-percent hit rate on the “Under” and as you may have read in our Week 15 NFL Best Bets, we like this game to stay well under the number.
