Trends with Benefits: Week 14 NFL Betting

In an All-NFC West edition of our football trends betting feature we setup Sunday’s divisional rematch games between the Rams at Cardinals and Seahawks at Niners

If there was ever a more clear reminder about how important it is to check the weather before placing NFL wagers in the month of December, someone please jump over to the facebook betting central and tell us about it! Philadelphia, Green Bay, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Miami and Washington are all being affected by snow and wind during Week 14’s early starts and so far it has wrecked absolute havoc on “Over” bets.

Of the six remaining games on this week’s card bettors will want to keep close tabs on the Titans at Broncos and Cowboys at Bears but our focus is on the sunny southwest where the four NFC West combatants are hooking up for divisional rematches.

ST. LOUIS at ARIZONA

Best Sportsbook Odds: Cardinals -4 and O/U 40.5

The Rams had played their best two games all season just before a Week 13 meeting with the Niners but they were unable to get much going on offense and lost by double-digits. The 23-13 loss left the Rams 10.2 points short of their season scoring average and since the 1995 season St. Louis has a 1-11 ATS record as a road dog following such a weak offensive output. These Cards have a score to settle from Week 1 and last week’s loss at Philly will have them completely focused for this divisional rematch.

[quote_text color=”#000000″ text_color=”#ffffff”]Arizona is 5-4 SU/ATS when hosting a team they lost to earlier in the season and the Cards have scored an average of 26.6 points in those games with all nine going “Over” the total[/quote_text]

In four road losses this season the Cardinals are -6 in turnovers but at home they are 5-1 SU with a positive turnover margin (+0.5) and after coughing up the ball three times last week in Philly we suspect today they’ll take much better care of the football. Arizona is not going to let this home divisional game slip away. Look for a solid effort on both sides of the football as they put at least 24 points.

SEATTLE at SAN FRANCISCO

Best NFL Odds: Niners -2.5 and O/U 41

The Seahawks continued their home field dominance Monday with a blowout win over the Saints and here’s a trend you don’t hear every day: Teams who beat New Orleans at home are 11-21 straight-up and 5-25-1 ATS the past 10 years! San Fran struggled to get its run game untracked the first meeting with Seattle and QB Colin Kaepernick’s sophomore slump has been a story all season but he’s getting back some valuable pieces on the offense and the Seahawks D has taken a few hits from suspension. The Hawks run D had no problem shutting down the Saints run game last week and so far this year, teams who held their previous opponent to less than 50 rushing yards are 10-2 O/U the next week when the line is within +/-3 points of ‘Pick em’. Location is everything for the Hawks and while we don’t expect a letdown, perhaps the lack of a ‘12th Man’ leads to some offensive success for San Fran. Since 1991 the Niners are 17-5 O/U in divisional home games with non-division foes on-deck the next two weeks (3-0 O/U with HC Harbaugh).
