Texas will try and snap out of its mini-scoring slump today against Brandon McCarthy and the D-Backs
Baseball’s quest to stoke rivalries by mixing up the Interleague schedule threw some fans and bettors for a loop Wednesday and judging by the scores, it may have also had some impact on the hitters.
MLB betting stats for yesterday’s game show a 9-5 record for home teams and a modest gain of plus-1.15 units but the biggest return came from Over/Under wagering where astute players collected plus-2.55 units on the “Under” after eight of 15 games stayed below the posted total.
The final count was 5 overs, 8 unders and 1 push with home teams scoring 4.4 runs per game (RPG) and road squads accounting for a 4.0 RPG scoring average. Overall stats for the season still show a 52.5-percent edge to the “Over” and now that teams have settled in for a night there’s a chance we could once again see things hop up to the high side. But with intraleague games set to resume for most clubs Friday this card has an eerie “Getaway Game” feel to it, especially in the four early games.
DIAMONDBACKS at RANGERS
Pushed back a day after a rainout, the updated line for today’s game is Texas -164 and 9.5 Under (even). Brandon McCarthy (2-3, 4.36) will face Justin Grimm (4-3, 4.05) as the Diamondbacks look to complete the sweep while extending their win streak to four-straight. The past two seasons Arizona is 9-21-1 O/U following a win in which their starter pitched at least eight innings for a net profit of $1100 when playing the under and with the Diamondbacks scheduled for a series in Chicago starting Friday, this sets up for a nice spot to play the under.
