Top betting trends to consider for betting Monday’s MLB card
The Oakland Athletics waited until the ninth inning Monday before breaking open a 1-1 tie against the Blue Jays and putting the game out of hand with four additional runs. It improved Oakland’s Monday record to 10-4 this season and ranks them as one of the top Major League Baseball teams who you do not want to start the week against.
Atlanta (12-2), Detroit (8-2), Seattle (9-3) and Cincinnati (11-4) top the list of teams with the highest Monday winning percentage and three of four are in action tonight. Here are a few other trends and systems to consider for Monday’s MLB betting card with SDQL stats provided by SportsDatabase.com.
PHILLIES at BRAVES
Atlanta was shutout Saturday by Nathan Eovaldi and the Florida Marlins bullpen and then trailed 3-0 early in the rubber match before storming back for a 9-4 win. When the Braves are starting a new series fresh off a comeback win they are 15-3 since September 28, 2009 as a home favorite and check out this code for reason to believe Atlanta may be worth a look on the run line:
The Braves are 43-10 since July 1, 2004 as a home favorite of -140 or more when they are off a game in which they scored more runs off the bullpen than they did off the starter and Atlanta’s margin of victory in those 53 games was an average of 2.8 runs per game (5.2 to 2.4). Consider backing Julio Teheran and the Braves -1.5 runs (+136).
REDS at CUBS
The Reds might be 11-4 on Monday but their Over/Under record is just 5-9 to the under and when Travis Wood starts at home for the Cubs this year only four of 13 games made it over the posted total. The Reds are 8-19-1 O/U after their past 18 wins where the team had six or fewer hits and since 2008, just 25 of 81 games went over for Cinci following a game where they walked five-plus batters. We don’t know the umpires at Wrigley just yet but the wind is in and Mat Latos has found a nice groove his past three starts, going 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA. The current total is O/U 7.5 and for the first game of this series the under could be worth a look.
TIGERS at WHITE SOX
We’ll leave you with one high-percentage system for the Tigers at White Sox opener suggesting some nice value on the road side:
So far this season road faves are 50-25 when facing a starter they won against in the previous meeting and last time Detroit faced Chris Sale they chipped away at him for four runs though eight before blowing things open in the ninth for a 7-3 win (July 22).
