Spezza returns to Sens’ lineup for Game 3 vs. Penguins

Ottawa is 11-5 their last 16 times as a home dog and tonight, hopes the return of their first line center can be the difference vs. Sid Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins

It was 10 years ago to the day that Jason Spezza made his professional playoff hockey debut and the Sens superstar remembers the day well. Playing in game 5 of the Eastern Conference final, the Sens trailed New Jersey 3-1 and needed a spark to help jolt their offense back to life.

Tonight vs. the Atlantic division powerhouse Penguins, Senators head coach Paul MacLean is hoping the return of Spezza can do the same thing for his team now as is it did then. Spezza scored a goal and an assist for Ottawa that night and trailing the Pens 2-0, it’s do or die time for the home dog.

Online sportsbooks are paying back on the Senators at +118 and we like Ottawa’s chances to use tonight’s game as an opportunity to claw their way back into the series. It’s the first time all year that MacLean has Spezza, Craig Anderson, Eric Karlsson, Jared Cowan and Milan Michalek all in lineup at the same time. Spezza will center Milan Michalek and Cory Conacher, his usual linemates. And with the energy a packed house at Scotiabank Place can bring we are backing the feisty home dog with plus money.

Pick: Take the Senators
