San Francisco’s offense has increased its run production every month this season
MLB Picks: Cardinals at Giants
Seeing the Giants with a sub-500 record at this point in the season doesn’t seem right, but they are starting to heat up. In fact, the Giants have improved their run production every month this season, seen here:
1.25 month = 3 and Giants and season = 2019
3.50 month = 4 and Giants and season = 2019
4.31 month = 5 and Giants and season = 2019
4.37 month = 6 and Giants and season = 2019
8.40 month = 7 and Giants and season = 2019
They have only played 5 games in July but are 4-1 SU scoring 13-10-7-4-8 runs.
San Fran’s win percentage is stronger against righties and in closely matched games, Sports Database shows them to historically have greater success in the second half of the season.
FIRST HALF: 92-98 SU for a .484 WP
SECOND HALF: 102-82 SU or .554 WP
The SDQL for that stat is listed below:
CARDINALS at GIANTS PITCHING MATCHUP
St. Louis sends right hander Jack Flaherty (4-5, 4.90 ERA) to the mound. The Giants will counter with another righty, Jeff Samardzija (5-7, 4.32). The wind is blowing out at Oracle today and that could mean trouble for Flaherty. In his past six starts, Flaherty has been tagged for 9 long balls. That puts his season tally at 19 in 17 starts, just one shy of the 20 he allowed in 28 starts last year.
Samardzija has allowed one HR or less in nine of his past 10 starts and we are hoping to get another long outing from him. Giants starter Madison Bumgarner was forced to leave yesterday’s win after just two innings. It forced the Giants to use five relievers over the next seven innings. Samar logged eight IP in his last start against the Padres and today, if he can come anywhere close to that we should be in good shape.
PICK SIXTY MLB PICKS: CARDS AT GIANTS
Against righties, the Giants are 29-12 in a home series finale off a win where they struck out more than their number of hits. In yesterday’s 8-4 win, SF whiffed 12 times and only had 11 hits. The line on this game opened at Cards -130 but currently sits around -116. We bought in with the Giants at +106, available at Bookmaker.
For today’s pick, take the Giants to win.
