This week’s early Week 4 CFL pick looks at the East Division showdown between the Ottawa Redblacks and Montreal Alouettes!
Montreal spoiled the party in Saskatchewan last week with a 23-17 upset victory. This week they’ll host an Ottawa Redblacks team looking to rebound from a 24-14 loss in Calgary that evened the team’s record to 1-1.
The Ottawa Redblacks are 9-1 ATS in their past 10 games vs. the Alouettes
Early Week 4 CFL Pick
Line: Redblacks -6 points and O/U 48.5
The Redblacks admittedly played below their expectations in Calgary but this is a good spot for them to bounce back. Ottawa has won four-straight against the Als including three games that were played in Quebec. Overall, they are 8-2 SU and 9-1 ATS against Montreal in the past ten meetings.
The past five games in Montreal, the Redblacks have gone 5-0 SU/ATS and the past six-straight in this venue each stayed under the total. All six unders were by at least eight points and five of six were by double-digits.
Ottawa was 5-1 ATS last year before August and all-time, the RBs are 9-14 O/U before August. Overall, the team has a 12-4 ATS and record in divisional road games. That includes a 8-1 SU hot streak in which they are 9-0 ATS! Of those nine games, seven stayed under the number (1-7-1 O/U) and this is a good spot for the defense to prove itself without one of its stars. RBs linebacker Kyries Hebert is out for this contest, serving a one-game suspension for an illegal hit in last week’s loss at Calgary.
Trend Mart System in Effect!
We booked our Week 4 CFL pick on Monday night after updating CFL 005 at the Killer Sports Trend Mart. That angle is “live” on both the side and total for this contest and for my money, the value here is on the side.
Ottawa was solid in their home opener and then took a big step up in class against the Stamps. They also travelled across the country for that game and don’t matchup well against Calgary, they way they do against Montreal. This Week 4 CFL pick is backed by several trends and SDQL systems and although the 5.5-point line is gone, I still recommend this play at six points.
The SDQL record for our CFL 005 angle is 22-11-1 ATS (67%) with home dogs (Montreal) and smaller home faces posting a sad 3-8 ATS mark. Montreal also has a recent record of 1-7 SU/ATS when getting six points or more.
