The Bulldogs are coming off a double-digit win but they still gave up a lot of points and feature handicapper Greg Dempson thinks the odds maker has been a little too generous
In last week’s home game vs. UAB, Mississippi State won by 13 points as a 29-point favorite while allowing UAB 538 yards. S. Alabama at home is a better team than UAB on the road. This game is a classic look-a-head for Mississippi State as they travel to LSU next Saturday to play the Tigers. Last season at LSU, the Bulldogs were crushed 59–26. State has dropped four-straight to LSU and six of their last eight ATS vs. LSU. The following week they have a bye and then face Texas A&M and Auburn in back to back home games.
The Bulldogs lost to A&M and Auburn as well last season. I make this line at -10.5 points and I feel that South Alabama can keep this game close. Their defense allowed only 25.3 points per game last season, one of the best in the Sun Belt. It faces a tough challenge but getting close to two touchdowns, I’m backing the home dog. I’ve played South Alabama at +14 for 2.5-units and it is also a play at +13.5 or +13 for 2.0-units.
Pick: Take the Jaguars
