Saturday’s Game of the Night between the Philadelphia Flyers and Montreal Canadiens
In our first edition of this year’s top NHL betting blog our featured hockey handicapper Ryan “Burner” looks at the Flyers and Habs game. Buckle your seatbelts everyone, this could be the start of a new era in sports betting!
FLYERS at CANADIENS
Live Sportsbook NHL Odds: Montreal -130 and 6 Under (-120)
[dropcap2]T[/dropcap2]he Flyers have won eight of the past 10 meetings vs. the Habitants, outscoring them 38-27 including a 5-3 win at the Bell Centre in their latest visit April 3, 2013. I remember growing in this city, dreading the night when Philly came to town. They’ve almost always owned us! But this night will be different. Next wave, next craze.
Watched Philly the other night vs. the Leafs and they looked like scrambled eggs done wrong. They were inconsistent and messy around the net with no finish. Meanwhile the Habs looked like a nice Quebecois omelette in their opener vs. the Leafs, all the fixins’ with a touch of stinky cheese. It’ll be a tough matchup.
Look for a tamer, closer game than the Habs-Leafs fright night. Perhaps Daniel Briere will show up, special teams to be the difference and PK Subban can pick up the slack. Montreal’s power play did finish fifth in the league last year.
Vinny Lecavalier loves coming to the home of Club Super Sex. Ooooo… I’m shaking in my case of Labatt 50! Lecavalier has points in nine of his past 13 visits but keep him off the board and the les Canadiens will walk with the W.
I like the under in this one. Defence will tighten up on both sides and Philly’s offence will continue to struggle until the French connection can be made. Carey Price made 34 of 38 stops the other night vs. Toronto and he will make the key saves when called upon. Still too early in the season to pick sides. You never know, there might be something in that poutine after all? After a poor home opener I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Flyers pull one out for Peter Laviolette but tonight we’ll let it ride!
Chirper’s Pick: Flyers and Canadiens UNDER 6 goals (***out of *****)
Squeaker Pick: Coilers (+131) to upset the C’shmucks
