Chirper’s Corner: Maple Leafs at Canadiens

In today’s NHL betting feature the Chirp Dog gives his take on the Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Montreal Canadiens, Saturday’s Game of the Night!

Stop your grinnin’ and drop your linen. It’s feast or famine tonight in this classic, Original Six showdown at the Bell Centre. Both teams are coming off extra time losses the night before. A chippy affair between these two is likely. The Maple Leafs have won three-straight and six of their past seven games in Montreal and looking beyond the stats I’ve decided to take my second side of the season and go with the huge dog tonight. Toronto has been playing scared away from home this past month and the Leafs have not won a road game since Oct. 30th. Johnathan Bernier will also be looking for his first win against the Habs. He’s 0-2 in two career starts but a Frenchman always loves coming home to play against the Habs. The smell of fresh Poutine invigorates the soul so he should be on top of his game.

THE PRICE IS WRONG

I have a feeling tonight that the likely Team Canada starter will have a bit of a stumble. Don’t know why but it might have to do with a bad batch of Montreal smoked meat. The Queefs have won four of the last six meetings since last year and are quite the underdog. I’m thinking that if the Leafs can knock the Canadiens off their game tonight then Bernier can do the rest. We may also see another tilt between George Parros and Colton Orr after the Montreal tough guy cracked his face on the ice last time around. Sometimes emotion can get the better of you and tonight could be the night these two respective penalty minute leaders from each club try and settle the score.

I’m a diehard Habs fan at heart but in sports betting you have to know when to check your ego at the door. Call me crazy but I like the Leafs in this spot. Sit back and enjoy the show. I’ve got to go. My poutine is here. Chirp out.
