Minnesota is down one hitter today but they’ll look to continue their winning ways against Bruce Chen and the Cleveland Indians!
The Minnesota Twins started this season with a 1-6 record and it didn’t really surprise anyone. Since then, the Twins are on a 15-7 runs and they are seventh overall in the majors with 4.73 runs scored per game. Eight of Minny’s 13 loses this season have come on the road but they are 4-1 their past five away from Target Field and after beating the Indians 9-3 in Friday’s series opener, the Twins will look to lock up their third-straight series win today at Progressive Field.
The line on this contest originally offered the road team at -103 but Trevor Plouffe has left the team for personal reasons and his absence has spiked the odds as high as +120 at a few online sports betting outlets. Bruce Chen is another reason behind Cleveland’s popularity and although the 37-year-old lefty has shown nice success in the minors this year, he can’t possibly be expected to shore up the rest of the Indians’ pitching woe in one start.
Cleveland is 12-2 O/U their past 14 games and they’ve only won five of those contests. The Tribe is 5-9 at home this season and their team ERA ranks 27th in the majors. Cleveland’s bullpen has an ERA of 3.71 and their WHIP is 1.47, second worst in the majors. By comparison, Minnesota’s pen boasts a 3.38 ERA and their WHIP is 1.16, seventh best overall. Phil Hughes gets the start and he should be able to banks on four to six run of support against Chen and the feeble Indian pen.
Minnesota is hitting .271 against lefties this year and they are 9-2 against southpaw chuckers since starting 0-3. The Twins average 6.71 runs per game against lefties and although they are missing Plouffe’s hot stick, the lineup shows five other players who have hit for double-digits RBIs on the year.
Pick: Take the Twins at +120 to win in Cleveland
